Say Goodbye to the Woodbury Ave. Bridge in Portsmouth for the Next Year
TRAFFIC ALERT: Get ready for a pain in the neck detour for the next year ya'll.
You may have already come across the next big bridge construction on your ride to work this morning in Portsmouth. This is for those who have not yet. According to Seacoastonline.com, this morning the Woodbury Ave. bridge was closed off to traffic to begin construction on a new bridge. The current bridge standing was built in 1949. You could say this is definitely a good thing because a bridge that old is not safe. The construction of the new bridge will be quite the undertaking costing about $7.95 million and take a little over a year if all goes right to complete. Also, according to the D.O.T both northbound and southbound traffic on the Route 1 Bypass will be closed from Saturday, Nov. 3 at 7 a.m. until Monday, Nov. 5 at 7 a.m.
So, just remember to give yourself more time for your daily travels and to breathe. Road Rage does not look good on anyone. And, be safe.
