Yesterday I wrote about a great white shark stealing a fish as a 14 year-old kid reeled it in. Just a few hours after that story posted, a 61 year-old man was fighting for his life as a shark attacked him while swimming at Long Nook Beach in Cape Cod.

According to a report by WMUR-TV, the assistant harbormaster in Truro said the man suffered puncture wounds to his torso and legs before being airlifted to Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

He was found lying on the beach with a large open wound to his leg. Two ladies walking on the beach applied first aid to stop the bleeding. One of them then ran to a nearby house to call 911 since there is no cell service in that area of the Cape, according to WMUR.

Several sharks have been spotted in the area over the past few days. A state marine fisheries senior biologist plans to take a look today to see if the wounds are consistent with a great white shark attack. Truro was the site of the last shark attack on Cape Cod in 2012.
